i know it’s maybe silly to celebrate a holiday that doesn’t celebrate a woman like you, who is young and untethered and has never known romantic love.

but valentine’s day is still sweet enough to wiggle its way into my heart, because i love love, and i believe in love, and i even wish for it too—love in all of its healing and revolutionary power. and if nothing else, it is a great excuse to affirm those whose love has gone under-appreciated.
